About Attorney Cody Cofer
Cody Cofer is a founding partner of Cofer Luster Criminal Defense Lawyers and has devoted his legal career to criminal law. Before becoming a defense attorney, he served as a prosecutor, handling misdemeanor and felony cases. He later worked as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas, where he represented people facing federal criminal charges in Fort Worth and Dallas.
Cofer is Board Certified in Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His courtroom experience includes state and federal criminal trials, along with appellate work before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the Second Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
In addition to representing clients, Cofer has taught criminal law and advocacy to law students and other attorneys. His experience as a prosecutor, federal public defender, trial lawyer, and educator gives him a broad perspective on criminal cases and how they are prosecuted and defended.
